How to vote in Milton

Advance voting
October 12 - 15, 2026
Mon Oct 12 (Thanksgiving): 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. · Tue-Thu: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Vote at any advance location in Milton - you're not tied to your ward.
Can you vote?
You can vote in this election if all four are true:
- You're a Canadian citizen
- You're 18 or older
- You live in Milton - or you or your spouse own or rent property here, even if you live elsewhere
- You're not prohibited from voting under any law
Don't live in Milton? Own or rent property in Milton but live somewhere else? You can still vote here as a non-resident elector, and so can your spouse. If you have property in more than one ward, pick one address and vote in that ward.
Check you're registered
Your name has to be on the voters' list to cast a ballot. It takes about a minute to check.
Until September 1, use Elections Ontario's voter registration service to check if you're registered, add yourself to the list, or update your name, address or property.
Check your registrationFrom September 1 onward, changes go through the Town of Milton instead - right up until polls close on election day.
Voter notification cards are mailed in late September. They speed things up at the polls, but you can vote without one if you're eligible.

During advance voting, October 12 to 15, you can vote at any of these five locations - whichever is easiest for you.

On election day itself, you vote at a polling station in your own ward - your voter notification card will tell you where.
Can't make it in person?
Vote by mail
Milton is offering Vote by Mail in 2026. How to request a kit - and the deadlines - are being released closer to the election, so check the Town's election page before you request one.
Vote by proxy
Can't vote in person or by mail? You can appoint another eligible Milton voter to vote for you. Appointments can be made starting September 1, during regular business hours. You both fill out and sign the Appointment for Voting Proxy (Form 3), then have it certified in person at Town Hall, 150 Mary Street. Bring valid ID - both of you - and note the Clerk needs original, certified or notarial copies. The deadline is 4:30 p.m. on election day.
Download Form 3 (Appointment for Voting Proxy)Both of you must already be on the voters' list. A person can act as proxy for only one voter, unless they are voting for a relative. Holding a Power of Attorney doesn't let you vote for someone - executors, trustees and other representatives still need a certified proxy form.
What to bring
If you're on the voters' list, bring one piece of ID showing your name and address. No photo needed.

- Ontario Health Card (if it shows your name and address)
- Mortgage statement, lease or rental agreement
- Property tax assessment
- Insurance policy or statement
- Bank or credit card statement
- Utility bill
- Another government-issued document with your name and address
