Special Friends Day will be held on Sunday, June 14, at Country Heritage Park in Milton.
Running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the event, which is organized by Halton Regional Police and the Police Services Board, is held annually each June to provide an opportunity for mentally and physically challenged youth and adults in Halton Region to join with Regional emergency services personnel for a day of non-competitive, fun-filled activities. Register by June 10.
Things to do include a parade, music, carnival games, crafts, sporting activities and special guests such as the Oakville Lions Club foster puppies.
Volunteers from police, fire, ambulance and community partners run all of the events, register participants, organize the day, obtain sponsors and host a barbecue.
Running since 1994, Special Friends Day has also been supported by local businesses who have donated prizes, equipment, food and/or money,
