The Milton Optimist Club will hold its third annual bike rodeo to help youth who are ready to learn and have fun.
The free event will educate youth, five to 10 years old, on bike safety. It will be held at the Milton Sports Centre on Sunday, May 24 from 2 to 5 p.m.
The event will serve as a fun way to send an important message about cycling safety in a rapidly-growing cycling community, explained the event’s marketing co-ordinator, Annelise Johnston.
The event will run as stop-by stations to learn different aspects of bike safety such as circle checks, signs and signals. There will also be a bike and helmet safety inspection. Youth can ride bikes, tricycles or scooters.
The Milton Optimist Club has partnered with the Junior Optimist Octagon International Club, Halton Regional Police, 7th Milton Scouts, Spokes N Slopes and the Town of Milton on the event, which will have youth-oriented prizes as well as a chance to win a free bike from Spokes N Slopes.
Parents can register their children on the day of the event or go to www.optimistclubofmilton.org/event/bike-rodeo.
