Fashion shows, motivational speakers and a cupcake challenge are all on the agenda during the Southern Ontario Women’s Show taking place April 24 and 25 at the Hamilton Convention Centre.
Presented by Barry’s Jewellers, the show will also feature many unique local products and services.
New this year will be the Little Black Dress Soiree, sponsored by Lime Ridge Mall and held Friday, April 24 between 6-9 p.m. The evening will include sampling, shopping, a fashion show, music and the Ask the Man panel, where guests can pose questions to a panel of local male celebrities, including CFL player Ryan Hinds, mixologist Dave Fauteux, KX 94.7 radio show host Mike Fuller, architect Drew Hauser and comedian Adam Oldfield.
Tickets for this special event are $20 with proceeds going to the Fit Active Beautiful Foundation, an organization that helps young girls become strong women.
Visitors to the show can also meet the five semi-finalists from the Fresh Look Over 40 model search as they walk the runway Saturday afternoon and compete for the grand prize, which includes a Vogue Models & Talent Adult Modeling program plus agency representation for a year.
The Cupcake Challenge takes place Saturday and gives contestants limited time to decorate three cupcakes with judging based on the weight of each cupcake, consistency and creativity.
On Friday, between 11 a.m.-2 p.m., visitors can join other women in business to network, share and be inspired by a lineup of motivational speakers including Rosita Hall, Marishka Glynne and Sue-Ann Staff. There will also be a panel of female entrepreneurs who will discuss, Is It Still a Man’s World?
The Southern Ontario Women’s Show runs Friday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tickets are $10.
