Some of the best-loved pop and rock classics will be in the mix as Milton’s 45-piece concert band presents Pop Rock Legends on Saturday, Apr. 18.
The Milton Concert Band (MCB) show will take place at 8 p.m. in the Mattamy Theatre at the Milton Centre for the Arts.
The classics from Woodstock to the new millennium, and from Elvis to Adele will all be part of the show.
The concert will be filled with arrangements that will have the audience singing along, clapping their hands and tapping their toes, according to organizers.
The musicians say they’ve had so much fun rehearsing this year's program and they guarantee it will chase away the winter blues.
Many of the musicians are baby boomers and recall fond memories of their youth. “This is my kind of music,” said trumpet player Len Black. “I'm looking forward to this concert because this is the music I grew up with, the music I love to listen to and the music I love to play.”
Musicians say they can't wait to catch members of the audience singing along or playing air guitar. In fact, MCB is going to have a special contest to pick the audience member who’s having the most fun at the show. That person will get to dedicate one of the pieces from this concert to someone at MCB’s summer series at Victoria Park in July.
The winning audience member will be chosen by a member of the band's board of directors on the night of the concert.
Tickets cost $20 for adults and $18 for seniors, students or children. Go to www.miltoncentreforthearts.ca or call (905) 878-6000. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Since its inception in February 2007, the non-profit, community based MCB has grown to include more than 45 members. To learn more about upcoming concerts, go to www.miltonconcertband.com.
