I would like to bring to your attention the issue of potential development of CN-owned lands in Milton into an Intermodal Terminal that was highlighted in different media channels today. This development would have devastating impact on the lives of residents of Milton in addition to affecting the future growth plans for the town as brought up in following front page exclusive story in today's Toronto Star:

This initiative, if allowed to be enacted, will:
create public safety issues with 1500 trucks / 4 additional freight trains daily travelling through our roads
impact local development / growth with people trying to stay away / avoid living in Milton
negatively impact Milton's bid to develop a University campus porposed just north west of the potential Intermodal Terminal site
ruin Milton's environment(with Niagara Escarpment, a UN designated World Biosphere Site and Greenbelt, just west of proposed site) due to air / noise pollution
Simply put it has potential to turn Tremaine Road into Dixie Rd whereby CN has it's Brampton Intermodal Terminal
I had already highlighted this issue and recognizing it's significance included it as key element of my platform while announcing my nomination bid for Federal Liberal candidate from new Milton riding last year; I remain committed and look forward to put a fight against this development once successfully nominated and elected with your support. I also plan to attend CN's presentation on Thursday that I am invited to as a member of Milton Chamber of Commerce, and raise community's concerns with all involved; I would request you to sign my petition that is drafted for this purpose:
