Halton Regional Police officers will be on the road this weekend trying to ensure that people bringing glasses together in good cheer won’t be bringing metal together tragically afterwards.
Assuming that many Halton residents will get a head start on celebrating St. Patrick’s Day (Tuesday, March 17) this weekend, Halton police says drivers should expect to see several Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check programs in action.
Police says there also will be a higher uniform presence patrolling the area of licensed liquor establishments this weekend, educating the public about impaired driving and enforcing the law.
Officers also will conduct bar checks at licensed establishments reminding staff of its responsibilities under the Liquor License Act, and encouraging bar/restaurant employees to call police should they suspect a patron is about to drive a vehicle while impaired.
