Have you ever wondered how to get more young men singing in your school choir, or how to get young women to sing more in tune?

Here’s an opportunity for music students that can help them develop their overall choral singing skills.

The Harbourtown Sound and A Cappella Showcase are teaming up with Sing Canada Harmony to present a one-day youth singing workshop and concert called Get Vocal.

On Saturday, Feb. 28, students from across the Hamilton/Burlington/Milton area will have the opportunity to spend the day participating in rehearsals and workshops focused on developing skills in “a cappella” style singing. The workshop will be run by award-winning director Jordan Travis, and two teaching quartets — the 2012-2014 Ontario Collegiate Quartet Champion Shoptimus Prime, and the 1996 Harmony Inc. International Champion Quartet For Heaven’s Sake. The event will culminate with an evening concert featuring all the students and clinicians.

Students can register at GetVocal.ca. Once they have registered, they will receive access to the music and rehearsal tracks for this event through a members-only website. All participants are asked to pay a $10 registration fee on the day of the event to cover the cost of their uniform and dinner.
