The Soundsational Summer free concert series presented by the Milton Concert Band (MCB) in Victoria Park will begin Thursday, July 3 with the sounds of the MCB Swing Ensemble.
The series will feature four free concerts held in Victoria Park (at the corner of Bell and Mary streets) beside Milton’s Town Hall.
Shows will start at 7:30 p.m. and run until dusk.
The 45-piece MCB brings the concert hall experience outside, where each concert has a theme and all shows feature variety.
Series organizers say the band will entertain with concerts featuring everything from swing to show tunes and themes from movies.
The series will get started with MCB’s 18-piece big band, which features singer Anita George. The band will perform an eclectic mix of blues, jazz, rock ‘n roll, novelty tunes and swing.
The series will continue with three more concerts by the MCB.
This year’s concert themes are:
• July 10 — ‘Let’s Go to the Movies’
• July 17 – ‘MCB Showcase’
• July 24 ‘Let’s Go Cruisin’
Hundreds of Milton music lovers regularly head to Victoria Park on Thursday evenings to hear the MCB.
“The summer concert series is always fun and exciting,” said band percussionist Josh Borg. “We look forward to lots of audience participation.”
Audience members are welcome to bring a picnic, or supervise their children in the playground. They’re also encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. Refreshments will be available.
The rain location is Hugh Foster Hall, where seating is limited.
Donations are welcome.
Celebrating seven years since its inception in February 2007, the non-profit, community-based MCB has grown to include more than 45 members. For details, go to www.miltonconcertband.com.
