The Halton District School Board held their 27th annual Special Athletes Track Meet at Craig Keilburger Secondary School in Milton, this morning.
The track meet for athletes with physical and developmental challenges attracted over 200 athletes this year, compared to only 12 athletes in it’s first year, back in 1987.
The young athletes competed in both ambulatory and wheelchair categories,collecting ribbons and medals for their achievements.
Competing in a wide range of events including 50m,100m and 400m races as well as softball, t-ball, long jump and beanbag throw.
The Optimists Clubs of Halton Hills, Milton, Oakville and Burlington provided food and drink with a barbecue for all the athletes.
