Your hometown newspaper enjoyed a tidy haul at the Ontario Community Newspaper Association (OCNA) awards Friday night in Vaughan.
The Champion finished among the top three in five categories, including three first-place showings.
Winning first for Best Sports Photo was an image captured by photographer Graham Paine of a hockey player landing upside down in a corner check.
The Champion also took first for advertising awards Best In-House Promotion (Production Co-ordinator Elizabeth Williams) and Best Creative Ad (Advertising Representative Sean Miller).
Reporter Julie Slack was second for Best Feature Story for her article (http://www.insidehalton.com/news-story/4036518-marco-s-brave-fight-leaves-family-living-minute-by-minute/) on a young boy battling brain cancer, while the Champion took third for Best Sports Section (Sports Editor Steve LeBlanc).
