A Milton homeowner was recently handed an offence notice for $360 for allegedly not having a working smoke alarm.
Milton Fire Department (MFD) crews recently responded to a Commercial Street address for a reported structure fire.
The kitchen fire was out upon arrival, but following an investigation, it’s alleged there were no working smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detector in the home.
The homeowner was issued a ticket for $360 for allegedly failing to have a working smoke alarm on every level.
“Smoke alarms save lives and they are required by law on each level of the home and outside all sleeping areas,” said MFD Captain of Fire Prevention Steve Ellis.
