Steve Bauer won’t be the only former Olympian carrying the Pan Am Games torch through town next month.
Added this week to the list of local torchbearers for the Milton stretch of the Pan American Games Torch Relay on June 23 is Joseph Veloce.
The 26-year-old St. Catharines native is a member of the national track cycling team who competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Along with he and Bauer — a silver medalist at the 1984 Olympics — three Milton residents will serve as community torchbearers.
They include Olympic aerial skier Travis Gerrits, well-known music teacher Derek McGowan and long-time volunteer and community shutterbug Donna Coulter.
The torch relay kicks off May 30 and runs until July 10, with roughly 3,000 torchbearers carrying the torch an average of 200m.
