Halton police are investigating following the attempted robbery of a bank in the west end of Milton Friday morning.
At about 7:15 a.m., a lone male suspect approached the TD Canada Trust at 6501 Derry Rd.
The masked suspect, who appeared to be armed, attempted to go into the bank, but alert staff were able to secure the door, preventing him from entering.
The suspect fled on foot westbound through the plaza and then northbound onto a footpath.
Police responded to the area but were unable to locate the suspect. No members of the public were injured, police said.
The suspect is described as approximately 5-foot-eight to 6-foot tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark two-toned jacket, dark-coloured pants and a helmet and mask disguising his identity.
Investigators are seeking witnesses who may have observed any suspicious vehicles or a person matching the suspect’s description in the area of the bank and the surrounding neighbourhood.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at (905) 825-4747, ext. 2415.
