Burlington Hydro crews and Cogeco technicians are currently working to restore full service to customers after a Saturday afternoon grass fire.
According to a press release issued by Burlington Fire Department just after 11 p.m. the blaze, which took place in the Dundas Street/407 area, lasted about two and half hours, with westbound lanes of Dundas Street being closed. They were reopened shortly after 7 p.m.
According to the fire department, residents of a nearby Headon Forest townhouse complex were evacuated to ensure their safety.
In total, four hydro poles were damaged in the fire. As well, Cogeco fibre lines were impacted, knocking out service to approximately 14,000 cable TV, Internet and digital telphone customers in the Burlington, Milton, Georgetown and surrounding areas.
The Burlington Fire Department press release indicated that full service is expected to be restored within the next few hours.
