To coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Canadian flag, Halton MP Lisa Raitt presented a commemorative Canadian flag to Tiger Jeet Singh Sunday.
The presentation was made at his namesake school in recognition of his contributions to the community and to Canada through his Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation.
The foundation raises awareness and funds to support hospitals and schools. Making the presentation on behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Raitt said “As part of commemorating this occasion (50th anniversary of Canadian flag), the Prime Minister has commissioned 50 flags to be awarded to individuals across the country who best embody our shared Canadian identity.
“Though made famous through one of the toughest sports, he (Tiger Jeet Singh) remains most gracious, charitable and humble in his heart.”
