Conservation Halton invites residents to spend Family Day weekend in the great outdoors with a host of activities at Crawford Lake Conservation Area.

Events will include Snowflakes and Snowsnakes and the Snowshoe Pajama Night.

Snowflakes and Snowsnakes festivities will be held Saturday to Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors will be invited to snowshoe or ski the rails and gather around a toasty fire to roast marshmallows and hot dogs.

Children will have the chance to watch the Race of the Snowsnake video and then try their hand at the traditional First Nations sport, while bird feeder-making and a winter discovery hunt will round out the activities.

Meanwhile, the Snowshoe Pajama Night will be held on Sunday.

The event will include two sessions — from 4 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. — in which visitors will be invited to take a guided hike and then explore the longhouse, make crafts and enjoy snacks and storytelling around a fire.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to wear their favourite PJs under their snowsuits.

The cost for either event is $16 for adults and $11 for seniors (65 and over) and children five to 14 years of age.

Crawford Lake is located at the corner of Guelph Line and Conservation Road.
