Starting tomorrow, GO Transit commuters will be able to check their social media updates at 22 more stations.

Metrolinx officials announced Friday that they are expanding the current free WiFi program to include an additional 22 stations – four of them in Halton – starting Feb. 2.

As of Monday, commuters using Aldershot, Bronte, Burlington and Milton GO stations will have access to the same free WiFi service that Appleby and Oakville GO station commuters have enjoyed for the past two years. The service will now be available at a total of 36 GO stations and terminals.

The expansion of GO Transit’s network follows the successful 2013 pilot project that launched free internet access at 14 stations. After this latest addition, the remaining 31 stations and terminals are expected to be completed later this year, according to a GO Transit press release.

The free service comes at no cost to GO Transit or its users, as it is sponsored by one of GO's advertising partners, which will also shoulder the equipment installation and maintenance costs.
