Mayor Rob Ford might have his share of notoriety, but for one Toronto music producer, Mayor Gord Krantz is all the rage.
Joel Zimmerman, known by his stage name deadmau5, says he wants to move to Milton in a new video he posted to his popular YouTube series, Coffee Run.
The 30-minute video saw the Toronto mayor in the progressive-house music producer and performer from Toronto’s 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider (F1 edition). Together, they went to Tim Hortons, ordered coffee and talked about fast driving, cottages and potholes.
But it’s Zimmerman’s comment around the 20-minute mark of the video that reveal his preference for Milton, where he says he’d like to start a hobby farm.
Here’s the dialogue:
deadmau5 : Since I can’t decide which mayor I like more, I’ve decided to move to Milton; I’m not kidding.
Mayor Ford: That’s funny
deadmau5 : I’m gonna buy some land out there and start a hobby farm.
Mayor Ford: Yah, that’s what you were telling me, that’s cool.
Krantz, who viewed the video after he was contacted by the Champion, said he’d welcome deadmau5 to Milton with open arms.
“I’ve often said, tongue-in-cheek, there’s two types of people out there: Miltonians and those who wish they were,” he said. “He probably wishes he was and I’m open to having people move into Milton — we’re here to be discovered.”
As far as going for coffee with deadmau5 for a similar video, he said he’d consider that.
“That’s not a bad idea, but I brew my own coffee,” he explained, adding he takes his with a little honey and milk or cream — a far cry from the five espressos Ford ordered.
Though, Krantz did admit to having a different kind of coffee to get the blood flowing.
“Sometimes, if it’s a long weekend, or on the odd occasion, if I’m out with some of my old buddies, I’ll take it black with a bit of honey, or with grappa, that’s like moonshine.
“That livens up the coffee a bit… keeps the blood flowing a little better,” Krantz said.
The video has received more than 180,000 hits and counting.
