Bishop Reding Royals
Not only did Danielle Vis and Hayley Schroder help lead the soccer team to a second straight trip to OFSAA — doing so as an offensive sparkplug and versatile two-way standout respectively — but the showed strongly in basketball and volleyball as well. Off to the University of Tusla this fall, Ben Preisner capped a stellar high school running career with 2,000m steeplechase gold and 3,000m bronze at OFSAA. He fell just shy of a provincial cross-country medal, placing fourth.
Craig Kielburger Spartans
Part of a highly-accomplished wrestling family, Cole Michaelis gave Craig Kielburger its first of two OFSAA wrestling medals — claiming 61-kilogram silver with four straight victories. He got in shape for the mat with a solid stint on the cross-country team. Karina Spehar flexed her leadership throughout the school year as a captain of the volleyball and soccer teams — serving as a outside hitter and defensive right back respectively — as well as a co-captain on the cross-country squad.
Jean Vanier Knights
Will Burmeister kept busy through all seasons, starting with a credible stint as a first-year quarterback. He proceeded to deliver strong performances as a power forward in basketball and as a defensive midfielder on the soccer pitch. A talented runner, Marisa Ditoro capped the school year with a solid showing at GHAC track and field — highlighting her efforts with a seventh-place finish in the 200m. At GHAC cross-country, she placed among the top third of finishers.
Milton District Mustangs
Amassing 246 yards, Michael Parent fueled the football team to the Halton Tier 3 title, following a 15-touchdown season that included two TDs in the semis. A 6-foot-6 standout set to play at Guelph University this fall, Austin MacIntyre powered the volleyball squad to OFSAA with a fierce attack highlighted by a stellar GHAC championship effort. A veteran netminder, Samantha Wisson was a stabilizing presence during a challenging year for the soccer team.
