Residents are invited to celebrate Canada’s Aboriginal past, present and future at Crawford Lake Conservation Area Sunday.

Aboriginal Awareness Day runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature a visit from guest artists Alexandre Nahdee and Raegan Kennedy, who’ll unveil their work as the premier exhibit for the Deer Clan Longhouse. The collection — Exchanges and Changes: Comprehensive Narratives explores identity in a cultural, historical and environmental context and will be on display until November 2.

Guest presenter Jon Averill will be down by the lake teaching about the importance of the drum and traditional skills, while regular park guest Chief Top Leaf will share traditional Native stories with event-goers.

Visitors will also be invited to try their hand at making a clay pot and playing a game of lacrosse.

Regular park admission fees apply. Crawford Lake is located at the corner of Guelph Line and Conservation Road.
