Celebrate Milton youth during Youth Week, May 1 to 7

The Town of Milton, in partnership with the Milton Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC), will be celebrating Youth Week from May 1 to 7, 2014. This annual, international event is a week of fun-filled activities, interaction and celebration dedicated to youth and their active participation in the community.

The Town of Milton is offering a variety of leisure and recreation activities each day during Youth Week at Town facilities.

Free active offerings include Youth Stick ‘N Puck (May 1), drop-in Swimming (May 2), Youth Shinny (May 4), drop-in Dodgeball (May 5) and Basketball (May 6 and 7), all at the Milton Sports Centre. New this year, the Town is offering the following registered programs: Teen Chefs at the Sports Centre (for $20.38) and Fashion Design Crash Course at the Milton Centre for the Arts (for $27.51, including materials). Registration can be done online at eservices.milton.ca or in person at Town facilities. Registration closes one week prior to the program.

This year’s Youth Award winners will be announced at an awards ceremony during Youth Week, on Thursday, May 1 at 6:30 pm at the Milton Sports Centre. The purpose of the Youth Awards is to promote a positive image of young people and to generate awareness of their valuable contributions in the community.

The Milton Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) is a voluntary group of youth who are interested and care about issues facing youth in Milton. MYAC is dedicated to giving Milton youth a voice, and recognizing and celebrating youth in the Milton community.
